Conte Collectibles, Ltd., was created to produce the finest quality (a)
injection molded plastic and (b) connoisseur hand-painted metal collector’s
miniatures based upon both historical themes, popular motion pictures and famous
paintings. The Company has three major lines:
Fields of Glory, Ltd. - will be comprised of
playsets and figurines based upon actual historical events, and famous
historical paintings.
Mr. Don Troiani - We are very proud to
announce that our hand-painted metal line will include figurines based upon
paintings by world renowned painter and historian, Mr. Don Troiani. Already
scheduled are sets from "High Water Mark" and "Lions of the
Roundtop".
Already, we have licensing rights to such classics as "The Patriot",
"The Mark of Zoro", "The Warlord", "Spartacus",
"The Vikings", "Zulu", "El Cid", "55 Days at
Peking", "The Longest Day", "Fall of the Roman Empire",
"Beau Geste" and so forth! We have at least 25 other titles under oral
contract or in the final stages of negotiation and hope to make some major
announcements in the near future.
In most but not all cases, specific films and/or historical periods will be
"covered" by both unpainted plastic figures and playsets and finely
painted collector’s metal miniatures.
We are doing our best to bring all of these products to market at competitive
prices and in outstanding quality (including injection molded unbreakable
plastic for our "plastic range").
We are very proud to have Mr. Ken Osen "on board" supervising our
sculpting and new product development. Ken was formerly the sculptor who
sculpted (a) the William Britains/Ertl Civil War range and (b) several of the
best resin playsets. It is great to at last see Ken receive the recognition and
credit which he so richly deserves for having done so much for the toy soldier
industry!
A host of additional talented sculptors are currently at work on all sorts of
figures, vehicles, buildings, ships and terrain pieces. We hope to profile each
in the future.
The company is made up of avid toy soldier buffs and collectors who have joined
together to design, produce and bring to other collectors some new product
in/from areas which we believe have been ignored or inadequately addressed.
We have theorized as to whether the "hey-day" of the Marx (which we
all love) playset could be recaptured. We’ve longed for licensing tie-ins and
performer likenesses to be incorporated into the sets and as collectors asked
why others hadn’t done what we imagined and dreamed of doing.
We all remember the joy of opening a Sears Christmas Catalog in the 1950’s or
60’s and quickly searching for the playset section. We want to rekindle that
feeling!
We want the children and grandchildren of today to have the chance to experience
the joys and historical benefits of learning "through" toy soldiers.
We want all of us "baby-boomers" who missed out on licensed products
from our favorite movies to make up for lost time!
We hope we can rekindle interest in many of the great films and stars from our
youth and pass on the important entertainment value and messages to a new
generation while in the process being able to commemorate and pay tribute to the
performers who not only entertained us but also functioned as our role models.
Quite simply, we want to make great miniatures and toy soldiers and have a lot
of fun in the process.
We believe our painted metal lines will "push the envelope" in terms
of sculpting and painting and licensed tie-ins.
We really believe that discriminating collectors are "out there,"
waiting, for what we are about to deliver and fully able to appreciate what we
are striving for.
We want to hear from you via letter or eMail and learn what it is that you, as
collectors, want. From what we’ve heard and read already in the great
outpouring that we have already received, we think we are on the right track..
Lastly, bear with us. Be patient. We’re growing more rapidly than we’d
originally anticipated and at the same time trying to meet the high standards
we’ve set for ourselves.
We’re sorry we have not been able to immediately respond to all of the many
letters and calls, but we’re too busy making the figures.
Bye for now. Your kind comments and thoughts really keep all of us going.
Best regards,
Richard Conte
